- VOEP / Vancouver Outreach Employment Program (for Multi-barriered Persons)
Type of Program or Service:
- The VOEP office operates as a resource centre where clients can easily access information pertaining to: Career exploration, Housing, Job search skills, Budgeting, Self-care, Communication skills, Educational and vocational training.
The primary method of service is one to one contact. Outreach Counsellors will contract individually with each client and goals will be set at an initial planning meeting in collaboration with client and their Employment Assistance Worker or Training Consultant.
Referrals come via the Ministry of Human Resources and, space permitting, through self-referral or other community agencies. Clients will be serviced on a first come first served basis unless priorities are identified by funders.
Voep provides services for multi-barriered clients who:
* are considered employable;
* require or desire assistance in their search for meaningful employment;
* require or desire assistance in accessing training or educational programs in the community;
* require Work Experience Placement;
* require Volunteer Placement.
VOEP also provides counselling & guidance in the following areas: substance abuse problems; finding suitable and stable housing; Budgeting & Time Management; obtaining proper identification; depression or other health matters; abuse related issues; specialized services to women.
