    Type of Program or Service:
    FOUNDATIONS - a Skills Exploration Program designed to assist unemployed individuals to make the transition into the labour force,through a flexible 3-phased approach that participants enter & exit,according to their needs.

    PHASE I: ASSESSMENT - Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES)- assists with participants’ Return To Work' plan through awareness of Essential Skills levels & practical application, intake and testing
    takes 3 hours. The test results and debriefing are completed within 4 to 5 days. Participants then develop Next Step plan(s) and move to Phase II
    or return to Case Manager.

    PHASE II: ASSESSMENT – Portfolio Design & Skills Profile - assists participants to:
    (1) gain awareness of how Essential Skills & Employability Skills relate to occupational goals and factor into career planning, job search & next steps planning, and
    (2) develop an Individual Profile detailing participant’s Essential & Employability Skills through daily group workshops (9 a.m.-3 p.m.).

    Participants will attend an individual session with Workplace Skills Coach to review participant profile and create Next Steps plan. If skills gap is identified, they move on to Phase III or referral back
    to Case Manager. Workshops are offered three times a month; call for current schedule.

    Phase III: EMPLOYABILITY ENHANCEMENT - addresses skill gaps for entrance into desired occupation or training. Participants complete customized IEEP (Individual Employability Enhancement Plan) under the
    tutelage of the Foundations Enhancement Lab facilitator to address skill gaps. After completion of the IEEP, participants write a post–TOWES
    assessment, followed by individual debriefing and next steps planning, and referral back to Case Manager.

    Continuous intake for clients completing Phases I & II with identified skill gaps.
